Design your own Lehenga

I'm not really a fashion designer. I just love clothes. I've never been to design school. I can't sketch. I can't cut patterns and things. I can shorten things. I can make a dress out of a scarf.
-Kate Moss

 Hola!
I had posted a blog post "Udaipur Diaries" couple of months back where I designed my own lehenga and wore it for one of my cousins wedding function. Many of you wanted to buy that lehenga and so many of you asked me about how to get your lehenga stitched. Well, here is another lehenga which I designed and I though of giving you guys all details about how you can do the same and what all will you need.

Since I am based out of Delhi, I can tell Delhi people about the exact places I went to for sourcing the clothes and getting the lehenga stitched but for the rest of you, you can read about what cloth you need and get a basic idea. Rest you will have to find out about a good tailor and material sourcing places yourself. I believe that you don't have to be a fashion designer to design your own clothes. You just need to be creative and do a little research. My mom stitches clothes and I have designed several pretty Indian outfits which she has stitched for me. We make a great team like that. From her, I did not learn stitching but I did learn how to source cloth, check the quality and get it stitched to look awesome.

For a lehenga, I mostly prefer net material since it is light and can be layered with a lot of tulle inside to make it look very puffy. And for the choli, I prefer raw silk. The duppatta again is of net with the same raw silk border as the choli. I source all my materials from either Nehru place or Chandni Chowk in Delhi. Going to Chandni Chowk and sourcing material can be a big headache due to the traffic and it's always really crowded but it's totally worth it since you can get everything from there. Whenever I gather the courage to go there, I get several things for different outfits at one time. I get the main net material for the lehenga with the design, a lot of plain white net for layering the lehenga which we need to dye according to the color theme of lehenga and raw silk for for choli and borders.

Instead of the net, you can even go for crepe material. It has a very smooth finish and looks very elegant. If you check out the video, you will see how I have puffed up my lehenga heavily with a lot of tulle inside and its giving an amazing flow. I love getting high waist lehengas stitched with almost backless choli and light duppattas. After I have sourced the material, I get it stitched from Naaz Boutique which is in the basement of DT City Center Mall, MG Road, Gurgaon. I know that's pretty far but I don't think I have found a better tailor yet and he has been stitching a lot of outfits for me since a long time. The boutique gets the cloth dyes, puts all borders and all the little things you need. Otherwise it's another headache to go to another place to first get the cloth dyed and then take it to the tailor.

Here is what my outfit looks like!

Winter with Ed Hardy

The best fashion advice I'd say would be just to do what makes you comfortable and what makes you feel cute, and that's how you're gonna look your best 'cause when you feel your best, everybody else can feel it, too.
-Ariana Grande

 Hi there!
Winters are finally here in Delhi and it's getting super cold day by day. Specially the nights are getting really chilly and I am loving the amazing weather. It's a nice break from the scorching heat and ofcourse winters are gonna help me reduce my tan, get pretty skin and I get to dress up in amazing jackets. I am sure all you guys love layering up your clothes with amazing jackets and styling your outfits with boots. You can be really creative with fashion in winter and this season I bought a couple of jackets and denims from Ed Hardy which I couldn't to share with you.

Ed Hardy is one of the craziest and the coolest brands I love. The brand is identified by their super crazy tattoo designs on outfits and some amazing biker designs. I love being all sporty and over anything else, I choose comfort. I visited Ed Hardy store a week back for my winter shopping and I absolutely fell in love with their Autumn Winter Collection. They have amazing denims, jackets and t-shirts to make your winters warm and stylish. I got a classic black jacket that goes with everything and can be layered over different clothes. I think we all should have a nice black jacket which can be picked up anytime and be worn even if we are in a hurry as we really don't need to think if it's matching our outfits.

Along with the jacket, I got a pair of slightly ripped denims. Well we all know that ripped denims were a big fad last season but in winters we can't really sport heavily ripped denims. So a little dark shade of denims with slightly ripped denims work pretty good in winters. I styled the outfit with a neon tank top tied on one side with a pair of black wedge sneakers.

Enjoy the pictures!

Style that Skater!

I just love fashion. I think it just expresses who you are so much.
-Lindsay Lohan

Hola!
I have been loving the slow transition of  summers falling into the arms of winter. Delhi has started getting chilly and I have already taken out my hot basics of winters i.e. boots and leather jackets. The best part about winters is wearing amazing boots and sexy leather jackets. Since winters haven't completely set in, I am doing some pre-winter outfits for you which you can rock while you can still wear dresses.

I have been in love with Candidly Couture's outfits and you really need to check out their fall collection. I got a very pretty skater dress from them that fits like a dream. Some dresses accentuate your body type and make enhance your curves and best parts of the body. This dress is the perfect fitting and shape. I love ho it hugs my body and makes it look amazing. I like wearing plain skater dresses this season with scarves and leather jackets. These basic dresses can be easily styled and look good with boots and block high ankle heels.

I styled the outfit with a pair of boots I have been dying to show guys! I got these amazing suede leather thigh high fringe boots from Koovs sometime back. I love everything about these boots! They are flat and comfortable, these keep you warm, they are made of suede leather, they have fringes and they are thigh high. You can even push them down a little and reduce their length like me and wear it till your knees like me. I styled the outfit with a leather jacket from Zara too to give in a little biker look. Apart from this I am carrying my new sling bag from Candidly Couture. They have a crazy collection of bags and you need to check them out for sure.

Enjoy the Pictures!

My Scarf Affair

"There is a shade of red for every woman."
—Audrey Hepburn

Hi Lovelies!
So winters are almost here and I am starting to feel the chills already. I am not too much of a winter person, I would rather stay in a warm place then cold but I love dressing up in winters. The only thing I miss about winters is layering up my clothes in pretty ways and trying different styles. Summer for me is more of jumping into shorts and a skater dress and getting ready in minutes. But I really enjoy dressing up in winters.

The one thing that makes our outfits look admirably amazing during winters are scarves. I recently came across this online store called My Scarf Affair which specializes in gorgeous vintage Russian scarves. There are scarves that look pretty but are not warm then there are scarves that are so that to make you warm that they sore your neck sore. But these gorgeous vintage scarves are beautiful and keep you really warm. You can layer your outfits with colorful vintage scarves with tassels and make your outfits stand out. There are so many ways of draping a scarf around and you can be super creative with that.

Just to show you how just a scarf can make your outfit look outstanding, I wore a plain black outfit and styled it with a Red Russian Scarf from My Scarf Affair. As they say, when in doubt, wear red! The minute I say this red scarf, I completely fell in love. The scarf is made of light wool and is very warm. It has a striking and vibrant pattern that will make you completely fall in love.

I styled this scarf with a caged bralette and a classic black skater skirt. I wore sheer stockings along with a pair of cute black socks and suede boots. To complete the look, I wore a matching red headband which I made myself and carried a sequinned clutch. You can even style this outfit with a big black hat. So are you ready to have an affair with scarves with My Scraf Affair?

Fall Look with StalkBuyLove

I think that, like any art, fashion is about expression. It allows you to express yourself and your identity through what you choose to wear.
-Erin Heatherton

 Hola!
The wedding season is here again and so many wedding are happening in November. I have been crazy busy deciding my outfits and everything for the weddings. As a kid I never attended weddings and that's why I am super excited about the weddings in my family now. I want to be a part of all events and I am going to update you with my outfits and where I got them from.

Apart from all the wedding drama happening, I thought of doing a fall look for you guys. I love the beautiful yellow leaves falling off the trees in autumn and making the whole place full of pretty bright leaves. And for the same reason I love wearing yellow and browns for fall. For this post, I am wearing a full StalkBuyLove outfit. I shop from them almost every month and absolutely love their products. You can find really pretty casual outfits their and this is something I recently got. My love for polka dots is eternal so I got a pretty retro halter polka dot peplum top along with a par of white pants and a white fringe bag.

This look is a little retro with the polka dot top and big round sunglasses. I have always been a  fan of retro styles and this is my modern take on retro fashion. Yellow looks amazing on white and since I wanted to keep the whole attention on my pretty new top, I styled it with white pants and fringe bag. All you girls keep asking me about fringe bags, well, StalkBuyLove's this bag is pretty amazing and it matches with mostly everything. So now you know where to get your hands on a fringe bag from.

To complete my look, I am wearing golden glitter heels from Intoto. I absolutely love their pretty princess like heels but I do admit that it's a little hard for me to walk in them since they don't have any platform. You can even style this outfit with plain white block heels or a nude pair of stilettos. I hope you guys enjoyed this post!

xoxo

Manali Trance

Be sure what you want and be sure about yourself. Fashion is not just beauty, it's about good attitude. You have to believe in yourself and be strong.
-Adriana Lima

Hi there!
So you guys know that I have been traveling a lot and been crazy busy with lots of new things happening at my end. In the last 2 months I have traveled so much and trust me it was a life time experience. I went on a trip from Delhi to Shimla to Lahaul Spit to Manali and back. It was a 10 day trip by road and trust be I will never forget this trip. Lahaul Spiti is one of the most amazing places in India and I think that before you go get all excited about travelling the world and going abroad, you should explore your own country first and see the beauty. I went to Singapore before this and stayed there for good 11 days and trust me I definitely enjoyed my Lahaul Spiti trip more.

I carried my golden sneakers from Promod with me for the trip as they look good with almost everything. Though I did not realize that the trip was going to be crazy with a lot of trekking and bad roads so I ended my ruining my pretty shoes a little. I don't like wearing denims and tight clothes during traveling and sitting in car for hours so I mostly took a couple of lose floral dresses from Forever 21 along with a couple of shrugs and shirts to layer up my outfits just in case it starts getting colder in some areas. Kaza, a place in Spiti was the coldest of them all. And Manali was really pleasant with comparatively colder nights.

Find the pictures below of one of the outfits that I wore in Manali when we went for a little picnic in the woods and went to the main market there in the city. I am wearing a white floral dress with purple/ pink flowers on it. It's a very comfy dress from Forever 21 which was on a massive sale. I wore it under a cute peach polka dots shirt with black polka dots on it. I love buying over sized shirts and wearing them over my dresses or tying them high on my waist and wearing them with high waist denims.

Here are the pictures!

Hope you guys had fun reading this post. If you want to read about my travel stories then please do let me know and I shall update you will all the pictures and details from my travels!
Xoxo
